I'm currently working on my diploma in cinematography at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. I specialize in scenic and commercial films, but I'm always open to interesting projects of any kind.

I fell in love with movies and everything about it on our family couch. No matter what the day brought with it, it was when the family sat on this couch side by side to turn on the ever growing TV and watch a movie together, that I felt right at home. Telling stories in my mind is something very close to the core of what makes us human. Hence, not only are the stories we tell but also the practice of telling the story a thorough exploration of the human condition. Films take on a special role in that context as their creation requires a high degree of collaboration. Each team member contributes their talents and their effort towards a common goal: A new collaborative piece of art. Although we repeat this process over and over again, it never ceases to amaze me.

This collaborative aspect is something I deeply love about cinematography. It gives me the opportunity to express my own creativity while working together with all those amazing people, each committed to the common goal of telling an engaging story. The ensuing creative process is different every time and I continue to learn more about it with each project. I love to be on the team as early as possible to engage in these talks and be a part of this intricate process. Let's drink a lot of coffee and wine, explore different ideas, discuss our intentions for the story and how the camera can enrich our piece. Let’s try things, see if they work and explore what we can do to make them even better. I love crazy, bold and philosophical concepts. Let's shoot a movie with a circle frame or paint the grass blue. Give me restrictions and I will have a blast playing around with them and weaving them into our concept.

The ability to deeply connect the viewer to the story is something I adore about cinematography. I love to get close to the actors and become a part of their art, while also sometimes taking a big step back and let the room around them tell its’ part. My favorite scenes tend to be when acting, surroundings and camera become one entity and one force.

I love doing what I do and I love working with people who feel the same way about their work. So let's sit together and talk about your film and how we can work together to elevate your story.
